An Empty Office

For the last few months, my office has been full of boxes.  They were stacked against walls, making my office seem very full.  Over the past few weeks, the number of boxes grew as new packages arrived.  Some were purchases and some were submissions from our members for the Affiliates in Excellence awards.  But now…my office is empty.  Well, not completely empty.  I can now see my full bookcase and most of the floor, though! I won’t miss them for long…we’ll be reunited shortly in Cincinnati. 

Yes, we’re about a week away from the 2013 Leadership Conference! While the Conference Committee makes its final preparations, I am going to take a breather to tell you that this conference is going to be the best yet.  I was on the planning committee before I came aboard as staff for DSAIA…and I can honestly tell you that this year’s selections of topics and speakers are really top-notch. If you haven’t had a chance to preview the sessions, you really should visit www.dsaia.org/schedule to see for yourself.

I’m just going to say this publicly because it doesn’t get said enough….our 2013 Conference Committee has been spectacular.  Robbin Lyons is in her second year as Chair and is doing a fabulous job of keeping us in line.  This year, we have two Co-Chairs:  Lucinda Hurst of Cincinnati and Terri Mauldin of San Antonio.  Both are fantastic and have really taken the lead on their respective portions of the conference.  The rest of the team (too many to mention) are all still working hard and will continue to do so at the event.  As group leaders, I know you understand how important it is to have a willing and able team behind each and every program or event. 

So, as I enjoy my “bigger” office for a few weeks, let me take one last opportunity to invite you to come join us in Cincinnati.  While our regular registration is over, late registration is limited but available for the next few days.  Learn more about the conference at www.dsaia.org/conference.  And for those who are registered…me and my boxes will see you in Cincinnati!
